Este artículo hace referencia a la forma en la que se produjo el levantamiento del cerco de Ceuta en 1790-1791: la localización de las fuerzas atacantes, el sistema defensivo de la ciudad española, las dificultades y ventajas de las posiciones de ambas fuerzas y la táctica empleada para acabar con la principal amenaza a la ciudad: la artillería marroquí. Mención especial merece la utilización conjunta de fuerzas de mar y tierra para esta operación y el papel que jugó en ella el invento del almirante Barceló: las lanchas cañoneras.
This article refers to the way in which the siege of Ceuta in 1790-1791 was lifted: the location of the attacking force, the defense system of the Spanish city, the difficulties and advantages of the positions of both forces, and the tactics used to stop the greatest threat to the city: The Moroccan artillery. We should stress the joint use of land and sea forces for this operation and the role they played in the of Admiral Barceló`s invention: the gunboats.
