  • Resumen
    • The article looks at megacities, or heavily populated urban regions containing more than 10 million people. The author examines and rebuts various critiques of megacities on topics related to governance, urban planning, environmental impact, and socioeconomic conditions. It is suggested that megacities can be important tools for fighting poverty and furthering economic development. According to the author, the economies of scale offered by megacities can allow governments to offer public services more cheaply and efficiently and can also make residents' resource use more efficient.
