Resumen de El cuerpo y la ausencia. La obra literaria de Enrique J. Vila Torres

Luigi Contadini

  • This paper analyses the literary work of the Spanish lawyer and writer Enrique J. Vila Torres, author, in 2011, of a resounding collective denounce concerning one of the most terrible violations of human rights occurred in a Western country in the twentieth century: the brutal trade on a national scale of thousands of new-born children stolen by deception from their biological mothers. His stories, all based on real events, constitute a hybrid genre in which the evidence of the body, the circumstances of conception, the trauma of the forced separation and the consequent absence, the flow of disrupted lives based on lies and the desperate search for ones own relatives are represented. For their testimonial value and their ethical purpose, these writings contribute to the construction of a collective memory.
