This article aims to present the route developed by psychoanalytic double from the analysis of a patient here named Angelica. The article is divided into four parts. The first is called "The girl in the basement". This part is presented, emblematically, the real experience of Angelica being sent to the basement. This was used metaphorically to symbolize the repression mechanism described by Freud (1915). In the second part, entitled "The mask", its construction and uses clinical materials are presented that show how the construction was defensive Angelica to deal with your anxiety and the feeling of being loved. O presente artigo tem como objetivo apresentar o percurso desenvolvido pela dupla psicanalítica a partir da análise de uma paciente, aqui denominada de Angélica. O artigo está dividido em quatro partes. A primeira é denominada "A menina no porão". Nesta parte é apresentada, de forma emblemática, a vivência real de Angélica de ser enviada ao porão. Esta situação foi utilizada metaforicamente para simbolizar o mecanismo de repressão descrito por Freud (1915). Na segunda parte, intitulada "A máscara, sua construção e usos", são apresentados materiais clínicos que evidenciam como ocorreu a construção defensiva de Angélica para lidar com a sua angústia e o sentimento de não ser amada. Ela construiu uma máscara, uma couraça narcísica. A terceira parte, denominada de "Olhando-se no espelho", ilustra uma fase do processo analítico em que o vínculo com a analista permitiu a Angélica resgatar conteúdos seus que estavam "relegados ao porão". Esse resgate permitiu que Angélica pudesse olhar-se no espelho de uma forma diferente, mais completa, entrando em contato com aspectos seus que eram desconhecidos. A quarta parte, "Angélica: limites e possibilidades" descreve a jornada da paciente lidando com a sua impotência, a castração, e também descobrindo recursos que foram, por muito tempo, desconsiderados.
