    Ni el lamento ni el cliché resultan actitudes críticas que favorezcan el pensamiento libre y creativo que las humanidades necesitan. Se hacen necesarios, más que nunca, un debate en profundidad y un análisis de la política científica en este campo, pero ello no puede hacerse desde el atrincheramiento en colectivos afectados por el síndrome del olvido de las humanidades. En nuestro país, la financiación de la investigación básica en humanidades se realiza a través del programa de Promoción General del Conocimiento, que en los últimos cuatro años está experimentando un crecimiento espectacular.

    Neither regrets nor clichés are critical attitudes that encourage the free and creative thought that the humanities require. In-depth debate and an analysis of scientific policy in this field are more necessary than ever, but these cannot be undertaken by people entrenched into groups affected by the syndrome of obliviousness to the humanities. In our country, the financing of basic research in the humanities is carried out through the Programme for the General Promotion of knowledge, that over the past few years has undergone spectacular growth.
