  • The intensity is a peculiarity of certain predicates; it characterizes them in terms of high or low degree. When the predicate corresponds to a verb or an adjective, the intensity is marked by adverbs. On the other hand, if the predicate is a noun, determiners can also work as intensive markers. First, I explain the various types of extensive determiners, then I propose a fonnal representation of the intensity, independently from the shape of the predicates and that of their various markers.
