Los efectos de la crisis económica en las memorias de sostenibilidad GRI en Europa

    El objetivo del trabajo es investigar si la actual crisis económica ha afectado al volumen y a la calidad de la información de sostenibilidad en Europa. A tal efecto considera las memorias elaboradas en el marco propuesto por la Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) durante el periodo 2007-2011. Los resultados muestran que las memorias GRI han tenido un crecimiento importante en el periodo analizado, que supera como media el 30% anual, y que el aumento es estadísticamente significativo en cada uno de los años analizados. Sin embargo, no se aprecian diferencias significativas en la calidad agregada de las memorias en los años examinados. Estos resultados sugieren que la crisis no ha tenido un impacto negativo en la actitud de las organizaciones europeas sobre la responsabilidad social corporativa.

    The paper analyses the impact of the current economic crisis on the quantity and quality of the sustainability information in Europe. It takes into account the reports prepared under the framework established by the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) during the period 2007-2011. The results show that the average number of GRI reports has been growing at about more than 30% per year during the period under analysis, being the increase statistically significant in all years. However there are not significant differences in the quality of the examined reports in the period. These results suggest that the crisis has not had a negative impact in the behavior of European organization towards corporate social reporting.
