El objetivo del artículo es el estudio de la imagen regia en el Poema de Alfonso XI, obra escrita en vida del monarca. El análisis de esta creación literaria permite examinar varias cuestiones: la actuación del rey como pacificador y justiciero; el diálogo rey-reino; la coronación del monarca; el rey guerrero, incluyendo su dimensión de defensor de la cristiandad; la relación entre imagen regia y simbología animal; y la consideración de Alfonso XI como héroe de la gesta. En todas ellas puede observarse que la ideología se encuentra al servicio del poder real, con un claro objetivo: legitimarlo

The objective of this article is the study of the royal image in the Poema de Alfonso XI, written during the life of the monarch. The analysis of this literary creation permits the study of several matters:
the peacemaker king; the righteous king; the dialogue between king and kingdom; the crowned king;
the warrior king, defender of Christendom; the royal image and the animal symbolism; and Alfonso XI as hero of the feat. The study of these cases shows that ideology is at the service of royal power, with the clear objective of legitimicing it.
