Resumen de Los exvotos en Tenerife. Vestigios materiales como expresión de lo prodigioso (II)

Dentro del heterogéneo mundo de las ofrendas votivas, en el occidente cristiano existen dos tipologías bien definidas: las figuras de cera y las reproducciones de barcos a tamaño reducido. Los primeros, desterrados de la mayor parte de los templos de Tenerife -circunstancia que también se hace extensible al resto del territorio nacional-, y los otros, vinculados principalmente a recintos cultuales costaneros, conformando, en este sentido, una interesante nómina de ejemplares que actualmente encontramos dispersa por la geografía insular. En el presente texto expondremos los antecedentes de esta práctica devota y su desarrollo a lo largo de la historia tinerfeña, centrando nuestra atención en aquellas unidades que consideramos más interesantes, al ser objetos con una cualidad plástica explícita o por el hecho de estar vinculados a unos acontecimientos históricos concretos.

Within the heterogeneous world of votive offerings, in the Christian West there are two distinct types: wax figures and reproductions of small size boats. The first, banished from the majority temples of Tenerife -circumstance also is extended to the rest of the national territory-, and the other, related from coastal cultic enclosures, and forming, in this respect, an interesting list of specimens currently scattered over the island. In this text we'll present the history of this devout practice and development along Tenerife's history, focusing our attention on those units that we consider most interesting, being objects with a expressive quality explicitly or by virtue of being linked to a specific historical events.
