Resumen de Fibromatosis gingival hereditaria: reporte de un caso en un niño

  La fibromatosis gingival hereditaria es un trastorno poco frecuente, y el modo de transmisión genética señala que es un rasgo autosómico dominante. Se caracteriza por el aumento generalizado o localizado en el volumen de la encía, de tipo fibroso, se manifiesta con el inicio eruptivo de la dentición permanente o también con la erupción de la dentición primaria, puede presentarse como una característica aislada o como parte de un síndrome.

  Se reporta el caso clínico de un paciente pediátrico femenino que acudió a la Clínica Odontológica de la Corporación Universitaria Rafael Núñez por presentar aumento en el volumen de la encía, de forma generalizada, con historia familiar de la misma afección en la madre y un hermano, sin relación con síndromes; se describen características clínicas, antecedentes familiares y terapéutica.

  Hereditary gingival fibromatosis is a rare disorder. Its genetic transmission mode indicates that it is an autosomal dominant trait. It is characterized by generalized or localized increases in the volume of the gum and fibre type. It manifests by the onset of eruption of the permanent teeth, or with the eruption of primary teeth, and may occur as an isolated feature or as part of a syndrome.

  We report the clinical case of a female pediatric patient who visited the Dental Clinic of the Rafael Núñez University Corporation due to a general increase in the volume of the gum, with a family history of the same condition in the mother and brother, with no relationships with syndromes. The clinical features, family history and treatment, are described.
