    This paper discusses fundamental questions about the formation of readers,focusing on the problem of teaching how to read and illiteracy and its socioculturalimplications, but primarily the impact that reading may cause as asymbolic system in the construction of worldview and ownership of reality.In today's world it is impossible to think of reading and education without thinking deeply about interculturalism and plot that weaves around to (re) build human history, mainly in order to fix the situations that imply inequality,prejudice and racism.In this perspective we will assume and underline the speech of significant writers for these two topics, emphasizing the authors Bakhtin and Freire, linking them with other researchers also relevant to the study of Reading and Intercultural Education.

    Este artigo pretende discutir questões fundamentais acerca da formação de leitores, focalizando a problemática acerca do ensino da leitura e da iliteracia e suas consequências socioculturais, mas sobretudo o impacto que a leitura esta pode provocar enquanto sistema simbólico na construção de visão de mundo e apropriação da realidade. No mundo contemporâneo é impossível se pensar em leitura e educação sem reflectir profundamente acerca da interculturalidade e da trama que aí se tece para se (re)construir a história humana, principalmente no sentido de se corrigir as situações que implicam em desigualdade, preconceito e racismo. Nessa perspectiva iremos assumir e sublinhar o discurso de autores significativos para estas duas áreas temáticas, dando ênfase aos autores Freire e Bakhtine, articulando-os com outros investigadores, também, relevantes para o estudo da Leitura e da Educação Intercultural.
