  • The article focuses on organizations and people involved in studying climatic changes and environmental protection. It comments on the United Nations' Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change which announced in September of 2013 it was virtually certain humans are responsible for rising temperatures on the Earth and debunked arguments by climate-change deniers concerning a "pause" in global warming. It talks about agricultural ecologist David Lobell who studies crop informatics to determine methods the world can increase crop yields in the changing environment and mitigate long-term damage to the environment. It mentions activist Azzam ALwash who founded the nonprofit Nature Iraq to develop a plan to restore Iraq's marshlands.
