    Entre los hallazgos más relevantes de la Ley Orgánica 1/1979, General Penitenciaria, de 26 de septiembre, figura de manera indudable la figura del juez de vigilancia, contenida en el Título V de dicha norma, que viene a establecer y regular el control judicial de la ejecución de la pena privativa de libertad en los establecimientos. Y ello constituyó una novedad en nuestra legislación. En este trabajo, el propulsor y redactor principal de esta norma explicita los pormenores menos conocidos de su nacimiento y desarrollo.

    Among the most significant findings of Organic Law 1/1979, on General Penitentiary, of 26 September, it should be highlighted, without any doubt, the figure of the judge of surveillance, contained in Title V of the aforesaid law, which establishes and regulates the judicial control of the execution of a sentence of imprisonment in the penitentiary establishments. And this was a novelty in our legislation. In this work, the driving force and editor-in-chief of this rule explains in detail the less known details of its origins and development.
