Resumen de “África” en Rio de Janeiro. Una cartografía sobre la inmigración contemporánea

En el contexto internacional la mundialización de la economía, la celeridad que imprimen las tecnologías, la amplitud de los medios de comunicación y de transporte, así como la reformulación de las políticas migratorias y de asilo por parte de la Unión Europea y de los Estados Unidos, han tenido repercusiones directas en las migraciones que de África Subsahariana se dirigen a América del Sur. No obstante, hay factores regionales y locales que también inciden en las rutas que se han ido formando en las últimas décadas. Para el caso brasileño destacan los lazos históricos, culturales y políticos que ha intentado mantener con los países lusófonos, así como el lugar de éste en la economía mundial. Por tanto, el presente trabajo se encarga de cartografiar la migración “africana subsahariana occidental” hacia Rio de Janeiro, en el periodo comprendido entre 1990-2010, dando cuenta, así, de las investigaciones académicas adelantadas hasta la fecha.Migrations that come from “Sub-Saharan Africa” and go towards South America, are affected by many international processes that have taken place in the last two decades: the globalization of the economy, the speed that technologies make possible, the spaciousness of the mass media and transport as well as the reformulation of the migratory policies and asylum, made by the European Union and the United States. Nevertheless, there are regional and local factors that also have effects on these routes. In the Brazilian case stands out the historical, cultural and political links that this State has maintained with the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries, as well as the place of Brazil in the world economy. Therefore, this paper tries to map migrations from “Sub-Saharan Africa” that go towards Rio de Janeiro in the last two decades: 1990-2010. Migrations that depart from “Sub-Saharan Africa” towards South America are affected by many international processes that have taken place in the last two decades: the globalization of the economy, the speed of technology, the spaciousness of the mass media and transport, as well as the reformulation of the migratory policies and asylum policies formulated by the European Union and the United States.
