    • Barbary Doves were first detected in the city of Santa Cruz de Tenerife in 1988 when two pairs were observed. Since then the population has increased up to 18 pairs (censused in 19921 which show a highly clumped distribution. The species uses Ficus nitida, Coussapoa dealbata ond Coccoloba uvifera to build its nests, and seems to have iwo breeding periods: a first clutch from March to April, and a second one from October to November: This feral population originated from escoped cage birds
