A simple nest box live trap was devised for capturing Spotless Starlings Sturnus unicolor. During 109 days of field sampling, 440 individuals of five species (Spotless Starling 4 18 birds, Nuthatch I I, Blue Tit 7, Great Tit 3, Great Spoffed Woodpecker 1) were trapped. The trap was particularly useful for capturing Spotless Starlings and 95% of the trapped birds belonged to this species. Only 3 birds (0, 68%) were injured or killed by the trap. Results on daily and seasonal, and age and sex related, variation of the captures of Spotless Starlings are also presented.
