Depredación de Rabilargo (Cyanopica cyanus) sobre Golondrina Común Hirundo rustica

  • The Azure-winged Magpie Cyanopica cyanus is typically considered to be insecfivorous and frugivorous. However, on 18.05.95 on adult individual was obsented in Cáceres preying on an adult Barn Swallow Hirundo rustica while it was drinking from a pool. This is the first report of predatory behaviour in this species, and is related to the extremely dry conditions of that year, which caused a scarcity of insects during the birds' breeding season.
