Resumen de As migracións selectivas do capitalismo comercial: o caso dos galegos de Porto Rico nos séculos xix e xx

Joaquín Miguel Villa Álvarez

  • galego

Galician emigration to Puerto Rico in xix and xx centuries is a clear example of selective migration, commercial, starring the middleclass of the villages and surrounding villages, and articulated around the houses of trade in the Island, which gave rise to the formation of socio economic elites bourgeoisies both in Puerto Rico (mainland) as in Galicia (indiana). This emigration was launched on a regular basis from 1821, took off in the decades of 1840 and 1850, and grew steadily until the end of the century. Since the change of sovereignty in 1898, began his unstoppable decline until it was cut off definitively beginning with the Quote Law of 1921, diverted to neighboring Dominican Republic.
