  Habiendo desertado del cuerpo, el goce retorna, la pulsión falla en su acordonamiento y logra alcanzar el órgano. La enfermedad somática toca el real del cuerpo, lo que también define al síntoma. La manifestación somática no tiene un sentido; es el enfermo quien, a través de la palabra, la transforma en fuente de saber. ¿Es, entonces, síntoma? No tanto como formación del inconsciente pero, siendo del orden del goce, del número a cifrar, es en su búsqueda de sentido que la lesión será subjetivada. La enfermedad somática interroga la relación sujeto-cuerpo: la parte enferma puede ser considerada como una encarnación o una marca de nominación.

  Somatic diseases affect the real of the body, which is a trait that also defines symptoms. This somatic manifestation lacks meaning, and it is the patient who turns it into a source of knowledge through words. Is a lesion, then, a symptom? Not so much as a formation of the unconscious, but rather as it belongs to the order of the jouissance, to an encoding, it is in the search for meaning that the lesion becomes subjectivized. Somatic illnesses question the subject-body relationship, and the ailing part of the body can be regarded as an embodiment or a mark of nomination.
