The late Palaeocene to early Oligocene ostracod faunas of borehole CI-NC 35A, are analysed. The faunas comprises 20 genera and 41 species. The fauna is shown to have affinities with contemporany North and West African faunas also with Palaeogene faunas in North America. The predominance of platycopid ostracods in the Lower and early Middle Eocene seems to signal a kenoxic event. The biostratigraphical potential of the fauna is highlighted and it is shown that the environment of deposition for most of the interval studied, was relatively shallow and warm.
