Drug induced acute pancreatitis is less frequent than caused by gallbladder disease and alcohol abuse, however, given the large number of implicated drugs in the onset of the pancreatitis attacks, it is not unusual to find patients with this syndrome where the only possible cause is the introduction of a new drug. Pancreatitis generally occurs shortly after initiating treatment; however, we report the case of a 33-year-old woman with systemic lupus erythematosus in prolonged treatment with azathioprine requiring hospitalization due to acute pancreatitis associated to this drug
