Human growth hormone has been officially approved for the treatment of growth disorders and deficiencies. More recently, however, there is evidence of its growing use for neural repair, even though no studies in humans verify its effectiveness in repairing neurological lesions. We report the case of a patient successfully treated with growth hormone and intensive rehabilitation after an ischaemic episode. This outcome, although satisfactory, cannot be exclusively attributed to growth hormone administration, however. Further studies are necessary to determine the effects of growth hormone on motor neuron cells and the most suitable neuroprotective dose
