  • Resumen
    • The publications of Norberto Bobbio remain famous for their explanation -on the basis of Kantian legal theory- of the interrelationships between human rights, constitutional democracy and international peace. Like Immanuel Kant, Bobbio emphasized the antagonistic nature of human interactions and the need for promoting transnational forms of democratic self-government and "democratic peace" through international law. The entry into force of the 2007 Lisbon Treaty on European Union on December the 1st, 2009 confirms that, as Kant and Bobbio hoped for, international law can be transformed into multilevel constitutional safeguards protecting human rights, constitutional democracy and transnational rule of law.
