Resumen de Sociedad y territorio en el norte de León: Valdoré, los Flaínez y el entorno del alto Esla (siglos IX-XI)

Valdoré, en la región del alto Esla, es uno de los territorios de la cuenca del Duero que más tempranamente aparece documentado en época altomedieval. El reconocimiento de una presura sobre el territorio en el año 854 marca, al menos en las fuentes, el momento de su inserción en el reino astur. Más adelante, a partir de finales del siglo x, Valdoré fue objeto de la actividad de uno de los principales grupos aristocráticos del reino, los Flaínez, quienes terminaron por imponer un intenso dominio sobre este territorio. Este artículo plantea un estudio del contexto regional del alto Esla, del desarrollo de los Flaínez y del propio Valdoré con el fin de entender de qué manera se produjo la integración de este territorio en las estructuras de poder de la monarquía asturleonesa y cómo ello afectó a la estructura de la sociedad local que lo habitaba.

Valdoré, in the upper Esla region, is one of the first documented territories of the Duero basin. In 854 there took place a presura that marks, at least from what we know from the charters, the moment in which it first became part of the astur-leonese kingdom. Later, from the end of the 10th century onwards, the Flaínez, one of the most important aristocratic groups of the kingdom, started acting very intensely within this territory, which was finally brought under their dominion. The object of this article is to study the regional context of the upper Esla, the development of the aristocratic group of the Flaínez, and Valdoré itself, in order to understand how this territory was integrated into the structures of power of theastur-leonese kingdom and how that affected the structure of the local society that inhabited it.
