For a long time, and following the Enrique Segura Otaño translation of the work of colonel Lamare, has forgotten involvement Regiment HesseDarmstadt during the siege of Badajoz, 1812. Napoleon himself blamed the defeat these men, misled by a report from the Governor General Philippon. The testimony of the french officers and veterans of that regiment made except that honor which, for much of the nineteenth century, blemished the name of the german state.
