  El presente trabajo tiene como fin dar a conocer el Club Inglés Bella Vista, tanto la institución, como las distintas sedes que han existido a lo largo de su historia. La llegada en 1873 de Río Tinto Company Limited y con ella la de técnicos extranjeros, principalmente británicos, determinó que en breves años (1878), se constituyeran en un Club, para pasar sus ratos de ocio y sobre todo para la práctica de los "sports". Esta institución tendrá diversas sedes, pero a partir de 1884 estará ubicada en el barrio de Bella Vista y desde 1903 en el edificio actual. Así, este Club de caballeros pasará a ser el centro de la vida social de la colonia británica. A partir de 1954, con el paso de la propiedad de las minas a manos españolas, seguirá siendo exclusivo de los directivos y técnicos de las diversas Compañías y sus familias hasta 1995, cuando se produzca la apertura a todos los que deseen hacerse socios con la finalidad principal de la práctica de los deportes, el fomento de la cultura y pasar los ratos de ocio.

  The aim of this paper is to make known the English Club of Bella Vista, its institutional aspect as well as its different headquarters that have existed along history. The arrival of The Rio Tinto Company Limited and their foreign engineers in 1873, mainly of British nationality, brought about the construction of a Club by 1878. The Club was mainly used for leisure purposes and above all for the practice of sport. This institution had different headquarters; it was located in the English District of Bella vista since 1884 and in the current building by 1903. This Gentlemen’s Club came to be considered the centre of the social life of the British colony. Since 1954, when the mines became Spanish the Club continued to be exclusive for engineers and members of the board of the different companies. In 1995 the premises and facilities of the Club were opened to the public who wanted to join the Institution to practice sport, to promote the use of culture as well as to spend leisure time.
