In the northeast Iberian Chain, a widespread erosional surface developped on top of the external -northern-imbricate thrust-system which involves the Mesozoic cover and developped during the Alpine contraction (Palaeogene to Early Miocene). This surface was subsequently covered by Lower Miocene rocks. Both the erosional surface and the Lower Miocene rocks still experienced a slight contractional deformation. To the S, higher reliefs are present, in some parts containing erosional surfaces at about 1750 m. Only contractional structures separate both areas. We conclude that the relative topographic height of those different erosional surfaces and their covering rocks have not noticeable changed since the early Miocene and, therefore, this part of the Iberian Chain have not experienced significant erosion nor uplift since this time
