    El humanista holandés Adriano Junio (1511-1575) vivió los conflictos religiosos y los debates teológicos que marcaron la vida política e intelectual de Europa en el siglo XVI. El objetivo de este trabajo es demostrar que Junio abordó en sus Emblemata (Amberes, 1565) algunas de las cuestiones religiosas más debatidas que enfrentaron a la Iglesia católica de Roma con los reformadores protestantes (el celibato, la lectura y comprensión de los textos sagrados, el misterio de la Trinidad, la forma de orar a Dios y el culto a las imágenes, etc.), aunque a veces no lo hizo de forma clara y directa sino bajo referencias al mundo clásico.

    The Dutch Humanist Hadrianus Junius (1511-1575) lived through the religious conflicts and theological debates that characterized the political and intellectual life of the sixteenth century in Europe. The objective of this study is to prove that Junius treated in his Emblemata (Antwerp, 1565) some of the most hotly debated religious questions posed by the confrontation between the Roman Catholic Church and Protestant Reformers (celibacy, the reading and understanding of sacred texts, the mystery of the Holy Trinity, the correct manner of praying to God, and the worship of sacred images, etc.), although sometimes his style was not straightforward but rather disguised with references to the Classical world.
