  • Resumen
    • The choir books, now in the Archivio Capitolare of Udine (20, 24, 26, 28, 30), were, actually, illuminated by the Maestro della Crocifissione di Avignone and his workshop, with the collaboration of the Maestro della Resurrezione Cini's workshop and of an illuminator from Abruzzo active in Naples. Other illuminated manuscripts due to the collaboration between the Master of Avignone and that of the Cini, are the Missal of Avignon, (Bibliothèque municipale, 138), the book of Hours of Joan I d'Anjou (Wien, Österreichische Nationalbibliothek, 1921), datable to the second half of the decade, and the Gradual of Veroli, datable around 1368 (Veroli, Biblioteca Giovardiana, 10).

In the Udine choir books, a collaborator of the Maestro della Resurrezione Cini painted only three pages, while most of illuminations can be ascribed to the Maestro della Crocifissione di Avignone and his workshop. This suggests an advanced dating of the books compared to other manuscripts, carried out jointly by the two workshops and generally assigned to the seventh decade of the century. The choir books come from an antonite house, identifiable in Sant'antonio Abate a Foria, in Naples. The coat of arms appearing in many pages, sometimes together with those of Della Marra family, belongs to the General Abbots Ponce (or Pierre) II Mitte and Bertrand Mitte, thus allowing the dating of the manuscripts between 1370 and 1378. The commission of the books is probably due to Giovanni Guidotti, teacher in Sant'Antonio Abate's since 1369, to whom other artistic cammission can be associated as well such as a destroyed portal and the polyptych painted by Niccolò di Tommaso in 1371.
