Resumen de Monographic series: : the continuing debate

Debra Spidala, Linnea D. Marshallb

  • This study discusses the results of an online survey on the cataloging treatment of monographic series in library catalogs. Issues regarding cataloging treatment of monographic series have been discussed in library literature for many years. In 2006, the Library of Congress (LC) announced their decision to treat all new monographic series as monographs. The Program for Cooperative Cataloging intends to continue tracing series. Survey results indicate libraries did not simply follow LC. Treatment decisions still appear to be local in nature and no trend in treatment was identified.
