Resumen de Cefalograma simplificado para la valoración de la orofaringe

  El propósito de este estudio es facilitar el diagnóstico rutinario de la vía aérea superior; para ello se propone que tres de las cuatro medidas en sentido anteroposterior de la faringe sean tomadas directamente sobre la prolongación de los planos maxilar, oclusal, mandibular y una cuarta medida a nivel inferior, a la altura de la epiglotis. Método: se tomaron 60 historias clínicas de pacientes de ortodoncia de nuestra práctica privada, en edades comprendidas entre los 10 y los 12 años, divididos en dos grupos iguales según el sexo. Se realizó el análisis cefalométrico sugerido por los autores y se obtuvieron las cifras promedio de ancho de la faringe para la edad correspondiente. Se dan ejemplos de la utilización práctica de estas medidas.

  The purpose of this study is to make easier the routine diagnosis of the upper air way; for this we suggest that three of the four measurements taken in anterior-posterior direction of the pharynx, would be taken directly over the maxilar, oclusal, mandibular planes,and the forth at the epiglottis level. Method: sixty clinical histories were taken to orthodontic patients, in ages betveen ten and twelve years, divided into two groups differing in male and female. The cefalometric analysis suggested by the authors was done, and the mean number of the thickness of the faringe was obtained for this age. Examples of the practical use of these measurements are given.
