    En este artículo se discute la pertinencia de la tesis según la cual las movilizaciones sociales conocidas como la “Primavera Árabe” representan la cuarta ola de las transiciones en el mundo, de acuerdo a la conocida teoría de Samuel Huntington. Para los autores esta apreciación es incorrecta, pues la cuarta ola estaría representada más bien por los movimientos de los así llamados indignados en varias partes del planeta, por cuanto estos sí introdujeron importantes novedades para la vida democrática que no tuvieron aquéllos.

    This article discusses the relevance of the thesis that social movements such as the one known as the “Arab Spring” represents the fourth wave of transitions in the world, according to the well-known theory of Samuel Huntington. For the author this view is incorrect, as the fourth wave would be represented rather well by the movements of the socalled “Indignant Movement” in various parts of the planet, because these introduced important innovations for democratic life that those did not have.
