    Existen múltiples factores mecánicos que condicionan la permeabilidad de la vía aérea superior (VAS). Todos ellos interaccionan para conseguir diferentes secciones luminales en los cuatro sectores faríngeos: nasofaringe, velofaringe, orofaringe e hipofaringe. También hay que tener en cuenta el juego de presiones que se transmiten a lo largo de todo el aparato respiratorio. Es un sistema complejo en el que se debe realizar una observación multifactorial para llegar a determinar la etiopatogenia de los fenómenos obstructivos de las VAS.

    There are many mechanical factors that determine the permeability of the upper airway (UA). They all interact to achieve different luminal sections in the four pharyngeal sectors: nasopharynx, velopharynx, oropharynx and hypopharynx. We must also consider the various pressures which are transmitted along the whole respiratory system. lt is a complex system in which multifactorial observation must be carried out in order to determine the etiopathogenesis of the obstructive phenomena of the UA.
