    El trabajo se propone analizar en qué sentido la cuantificación y los algoritmos estadísticos contribuyen a performar el mundo social. Se parte de la idea de que la estadística es, a la vez, una herramienta de prueba pero también una herramienta de gobierno que marca el ritmo y coordina múltiples actividades sociales y sirve de guía a la acción pública. Se tratan estos dos aspectos de manera articulada, al historizar y sociologizar el examen de los aspectos técnicos de las herramientas estadísticas y de sus usos argumentativos. A través de diferentes ejemplos históricos, tomados de investigaciones anteriores del autor, se muestra así que la historia los métodos y de los formalismos estadísticos está entremezclada de forma compleja con la historia de los objetos que son puestos en la agenda por las políticas públicas en el seno de las cuales son co-construidas. Si bien no se trata de presentar un modelo completo de las relaciones entre métodos y algoritmos estadísticos y temas sociales argumentados por esos instrumentos, se sugiere la pertinencia de desenclavar las herramientas estadísticas, de abrir las cajas negras historizándolas sin por tanto relativizarlas.

    The paper analyzes in what sense the quantification and statistical algorithms performer contribute to the social world. It starts from the idea that statistics is at the same time, a test tool but also a tool of government that sets the pace and coordinates many social activities and provides guidance to public action. These two aspects are addressed in a coordinated way, to historicize and sociologize examining the technical aspects of statistical tools and their uses argumentative. Through various historical examples, drawn from the author's previous research, shows that the history and methods and statistical formalisms is mixed in complex ways with the history of the objects that are placed on the agenda for public policy in the within which are co-constructed. While it is not present a complete model of relations between methods and statistical algorithms, and social issues argued by these instruments, suggests the relevance of statistical tools unlock, open the black boxes without so relativize historicized.
