  • In the Istituto Nazionale per la grafica in Rome there is a small drawing representing ships at anchor (mm. 83 x 131; black and red pencil, pen and brown ink with grey wash), which is attributed to the great engraver and draughtsman, Jacques Callot. Until now it has escaped Callot scholars, even Daniel Ternois, author of the most complete catalogue of the artist's drawings. The sketch has all Callot's stylistic characteristics and is datable to his late Florentine period (1612-21), as would also be confirmed by its Corsini provenance.
