Resumen de An approach on Integrated WDM and IP Network Management: the WINMAN Project

Pablo Arozarena Llopis, Javier González Ordás, Rodrigo Andrés Werlinger Cruces, Joan Serrat Fernández

  • This paper highlights the main achievements reached to date in WINMAN (WDM and IP Network MANagement), an ongoing European research and development project, whose aim is to offer an integrated network management solution for the provisioning and maintenance of IP connectivity services derived from Service Level Agreements on top of a high capacity WDM network. The project has developed an open, distributed, portable, scalable and flexible management architecture for IP connectivity services on hybrid transport networks (ATM, SDH and WDM). WINMAN shall support multi-vendor, multi-technology environments and evolutionary scenarios from hybrid IP/ATM/SDH/WDM towards genuine IP over WDM networks.

In the first sections of the paper, drivers behind networks architecture and technologies evolution are introduced. The rest of the paper is devoted to present the WINMAN project and explain how it intends to solve the integration of IP over WDM.
