La naturaleza federal de la segunda república alemana es un reto si procura realizar una descripción detallada y comprensión global del sistema archivístico público. Los Bundesländer alemanes tienen un mayor grado de autonomía que sus equivalentes españoles, las CCAA, sin embargo se mantiene un elevado grado de homogeneidad y unidad a nivel nacional gracias a varias instituciones federales. Esas instituciones, su desarrollo histórico, sus bases legales y algunos aspectos de sus metodologías archivísticas son los objetos de análisis de ese trabajo. La bibliografía empleada fueron tanto en las leyes archivísticas de los Bundesländer como del Bund, como monografías y artículos puntuales escritos por, habitualmente, archiveros alemanes.

The federal nature of the second German republic is a challenge if its want to carry out a detailed and comprehensive understanding of public archivístico system. The German Bundesländer have a greater degree of autonomy than their Spanish counterparts, the CCAA, however maintaining a high degree of homogeneity and nationala unity through various federal institutions. These institutions, its historical development, its legal basis and some aspects of its archival methodologies are objects that analysis. The bibliography used were both archival laws of the Bundesländer as the Bund, as occasional monographs and articles written by, typically, German archivists.
