    este artículo propone una lectura de la presencia del espíritu y la religiosidad de origen afrodescendiente en la Cartagena colonial de la novela Los cortejos del diablo, de Germán Espinosa. El texto intenta mostrar que en esta novela histórica el ancestro cultural africano representa el factor desequilibrante del orden colonial y la promesa utópica de una libertad perdida y por recuperar.

    this article proposes a reading of the presence of spirit and religiosity of African-descendet origin in the colonial Cartagena in the novel Los cortejos del diablo by Germán Espinosa. This paper attempts to show that the African cultural ancestry represents in this historical novel the destabilizing factor of the colonial order and the utopian promise of freedom lost and to be recovered.
