Este artículo aborda la noción del hombre como un «animal autointerpretativo» que caracteriza la antropología filosófica de Charles Taylor. Esto conlleva: (1) Dar respuesta a los interrogantes que suscita la relación entre lo genérico y lo específico de la definición. Esto significa ofrecer una interpretación respecto a las continuidades y la discontinuidad entre lo animal humano y lo animal no humano; (2) elaborar una hermenéutica y una historia filosófica que nos permita establecer lo perenne y lo peculiar del anthropos moderno. Y, finalmente, (3) plantear argumentos ontológicos que afronten el desafío del naturalismo que aún pretende encerrar el sentido o la significación en el reino exclusivo de la subjetividad.

This article discusses the notion of the anthropos as a «selfinterpretive animal» that characterizes Charles Taylor’s philosophical anthropology. This entails: (1) to provide answers to questions arising from the relation between the generic and the specific of the definition. This means offering an interpretation regarding the continuities and discontinuities between human and nonhuman animals; (2) to develop a hermeneutic and a philosophical history that allow us to establish the perennial and the peculiar of modern anthropos. Finally, (3) to raise ontological arguments that address the challenge of naturalism that still seeks to enclose the meaning or significance in the exclusive realm of subjectivity.
