  • The article discusses the approach to the evaluation of the quality of life based on the capability approach, proposed by Amartya Sen and Martha Nussbaum. A critical assessment of their writings on the topic reveals the possibility of ethically controversial outcomes, when the proposed approach is applied to the evaluation of the quality of life of individuals. A postulate of non-comparability of individual capabilities is proposed as a possible adjustment of the approach, coherent with the precautionary principle.
