  • Resumen
    • Based on evidence produced in the past decade, the US Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) is recommending for the first time that primary care clinicians provide such interventions as education or brief counseling to prevent school-aged children and adolescents from initiating tobacco use. The advice marks a shift from the USPSTFs position in 2003, when task force members concluded that evidence at that time was insufficient to recommend for or against routine screening for tobacco use or interventions to prevent tobacco use in these young populations.
