Resumen de Health-related quality of life in patients with Alzheimer's disease: A caregiver's prespective

  • Objective: To assess the health-related quality of life (HRQOL) in outpatients with Alzheimer's disease and related factors. Method: Descriptive cross-sectional study to determine HRQOL in patients with Alzheimer's disease attended at a primary healthcare center of Granada, Andalusia, Spain. Results: We observed a value of 48.6 in the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) of EQ-5D; questionnaire; with 41% of inability to manage self-care and 50% unable to perform daily activities. In 64% health limited physical efforts and 47% had difficulties to perform social and family activities. Significant differences were observed between gender: men 58.25 (SD = 20.53) and women: 42.83 (SD = 20.9) p = 0.01, and the type of caregiver: partner 57.5 (SD = 19.7) and other relative 43.28 (SD = 22.22) p = 0.018. Conclusions: We observed HRQOL impairment in patients, especially in the domains of autonomy associated with sociodemographic factors
