  • Resumen
    • Colette of Corbie passed the second half of the 15th century working to spread the reforming dynamics of the Observance within the Order of Friars Minor and that of the Poor Sisters. Her death, in 1447, coincided with the definite increase in the autonomy of a part of the Observant movement, now under the authority of respective Vicars, which was seen by the supporters of a via media as a turning away from Francis's command of obedience to the Ministers. The first part of this study presents the developments that led, starting in the second half of the 14th century, to the formation of a Franciscan landscape that needs to be grasped in its different gradations in order to understand the place occupied by the «Colettines» and the associated «Colétans». In the eyes of the Mendicant preachers-reformers of the Observance, critical as they were of a certain kind of feminine mysticism and «living holiness», Colette's activity remained within the confines of the acceptable and the reasonable, uncontaminated by excessive «prophetism» and physical manifestations of the spiritual life. The second part of this study underlines that, while there was a «charismatic» dimension to Colette, the power she exercised in her reforming activity was not really «informal» or, at any rate, did not remain «informal». This is an aspect that this study considers deserves special attention, in terms of its contribution to the «file on Colette of Corbie», but also because of that which it discloses about this woman and those around her. Finally, the third part is dedicated to the development of the network of establishments founded or reformed under the auspices of the «Colétans», all the way to the beginning of the 16th century, and sketches out some lines for reflection on the manner in which the powers-that-be, in the age of the «common good» and of the urban universitates, positioned themselves with regard to the reformers.
