    En este artículo el autor se refiere a los avances en la historiografía de la filosofía en el período colonial de latinoamérica. menciona el proyecto que presentópara impulsar esos estudios en la Universidad de texas en los años 1960, proyecto realizado por W. Redmond, y publicado en un libro que ha marcado una nueva etapa y un nuevo estilo en la investigación del pensamiento colonial. Se añaden comentarios sobre la importancia de estos estudios y la necesidad de apoyarlos de manera institucional.

    The advances of philosophy historiography in Latin America is discussed in this paper. The project that was presented by the author in the University of Texas in the 1960's is herein mentioned. This project was executed by W. Redmond, and piblished in a book that has given origin to a new period and a new style in the research of ideas of the colonial period. Comments on the importance of these studies and about the need to support them institutionally, are then added.
