    El presente trabajo abordará el tema de la construcción de la identidad nacional en Uruguay, recogiendo la perspectiva de Carlos Real de Azúa. En un momento de refundación social y cultural, no es posible pensar en un repaso acrítico sobre nuestros orígenes. El Estado nación se ha erigido desde el olvido como mecanismo de edificación; no obstante, la Historia de nuestros pueblos -originarios y contemporáneos- apela a la memoria, para recordarnos que pensar sobre nosotros mismos es una forma de hacernos, en tanto sujetos históricos. Se busca reflexionar lo que implica esta construcción identitaria e interrogarnos sobre cómo transitar hoy, en América Latina, hacia una nueva narración que nos permita llevar adelante proyectos nacionales asentados sobra bases sólidas y, al mismo tiempo, consolidar el tan necesario proyecto de integración regional.

    Conflicts and harmonies in times of social and cultural re-foundation:

    A reading of Carlos Real de Azúa. This article deals with the subject of the construction of the national identity in Uruguay, collecting the perspective of Carlos Real de Azúa. In a moment of social and cultural re-foundation, views and reviews about a historical revision of our subjectivities and their contextual products arise. It is not possible to think an uncritical review that does not pose the problems of our origins. The Nation state has risen from oblivion as a building mechanism; however, the History of our people -native and contemporary- appeals to memory once and again to remind us that as historical subjects, thinking about ourselves is a way of making us. From this approach, a reflection on the implications of this identity construction will be pursued. The question is then placed on how to transit nowadays in Latin America towards a new narration, which allows us to carry on national projects with solid basement and, at the same time, to consolidate the so necessary project of regional integration.
