Puentes históricos de la Vía de la Plata en Cáceres

    Introducción: La provincia de Cáceres se encuentra vertebrada de Sur a Norte por la Vía de la Plata, la antigua vía XXIV del itinerario de Antonino. Sobre esta histórica calzada se han construido a lo largo de los siglos numerosos puentes, muchos de los cuales han llegado hasta nuestros días. En este artículo hemos pretendido abordar un análisis ingenieril e histórico de estos puentes, de sus orígenes, dimensiones, tipologías, procedimientos constructivos, patologías y estado de conservación. Con este estudio queremos rendir tributo a los puentes y la vía en la que éstos se encuentran. Vía que, tras sus orígenes como calzada romana, pasó a llamarse la Vía de la Plata en la Edad Media, y acabó siendo la carretera nacional N-630 en el siglo XX y la autovía A-66 en el siglo XXI. Material y métodos: Se han analizado un total de seis puentes más la propia Vía de la Plata. Para ello, se han visitado in situ las estructuras y en estas visitas se han tomado fotografías, mediciones, se ha estudiado la fábrica y se ha hecho una valoración estructural y patológica de cada una de las obras. Además, se ha realizado una exhaustiva búsqueda de documentación histórica de las obras y de la calzada. Resultados y discusión: el resultado es un estudio novedoso en el mundo de la ingeniería civil de este valiosísimo patrimonio que intenta poner en valor estas estructuras no siempre cuidadas y que pretende ser un buen punto de partida para posteriores y más avanzados estudios como puedan ser estudios mineralógicos o pétreos del material que conforma las obras.

    Introduction: The region of Cáceres is crossed from South to North by the Vía de la Plata, the Roman way XXIV of Antonino Itinerary. A great number of bridges have been built along this way during twenty centuries, and many of them have remained until our days. In this article, we have tried to perform an engineering and historic analysis of these bridges, of their constructions, dimensions, typologies, constructive techniques, pathologies and conservation. We also want to pay homage to these bridges and the path they belong to. Path which was in its beginnings the Vía XXIV of Antonino Itinerary, later, it became the Vía de la Plata in the Middle Ages, it was the National Road N- 630 in the XX century and now, in the XXI century, it is the highway A-66. Material and Methods: A total of six bridges have been analyzed in this article which also involves the Vía de la Plata path. Technical visits have been made to the bridges. Photographs of the different parts of the bridges have been taken and dimensions of the bridges have been measured. We have also done a technical inspection of the structures looking for pathologies and marks. Moreover, an intensive historic research of these bridges has been made. Results and discussions: the result of this work is an original study of these historic bridges in the civil engineering field which wants to be a good starting point for future works. The article tries to outline the worth of this valuable heritage.
