    Este debate, entre el físico Steven Weinberg y el físico y teólogo John Polkinghorne, es uno de los más importantes de los últimos tiempos. Ambos contendientes difieren sobre un aspecto fundamental: si hay o no un Diseñador que haya fijado un objetivo al universo. A pesar de la diferencia que ambos científicos mantienen, en todo momento lo hacen en un clima de mutuo respeto. Los temas tratados son variados: mecánica cuántica, fundamentos de las matemáticas, belleza y estética, moral y religión.

    The debate between Steven Wenberg and John Polkinghorne, the former a physicist and the latter a physicist and theologian, is among the leading debates of recent times. Both contestants disagree over a critical issue: the existence or non-existence of a Designer that set an objective upon the universe. An atmosphere of mutual respect prevails over their arguments - despite the different viewpoints upheld - over the whole gamut of topics from quantum mechanics, the fundamentals of mathematics, beauty and aesthetics to moral and religion.
