El presente artículo analiza la influencia que pueden tener algunos factores internos inherentes a las empresas familiares sobre la orientación emprendedora de estas compañías. De acuerdo a nuestro estudio, la mayoría de estos factores internos, como la imagen de la empresa familiar, la disposición al cambio, la generación que ostenta el control, la participación generacional y el acceso a los recursos financieros, tienen una influencia positiva en la orientación emprendedora de la empresa familiar. Por otra parte, se propone un modelo en el que las relaciones son moderadas por la participación estratégica del Consejo de Administración, uno de los mecanismos de gobierno corporativo más destacadas en nuestros días. Para analizar esta influencia, nos hemos centrado en el rol que desempeña en el ámbito de la estratégia el Consejo de Administración. En ese sentido, se mide este desempeño a través del siguiente indicador: la participación estratégica del Consejo de Administración. Se espera que las relaciones positivas entre estas variables internas y la orientación emprendedora de la empresa se vea reforzada por una alta implicación estratégica del Consejo de Administración.

The present article analyzes the influence that some internal factors, which are inherent to family firms, have in the Entrepreneurial Orientation of family firms. Most of these internal factors, as family firm image, willingness to change, generation in control, generational involvement and access to financial resources have a positive influence in the EO of family firm. Moreover, we propose a model where the relationships are moderated by the strategic involvement of the board of director, one of the most outstanding corporate governance mechanisms in our days. We analyze the influence of the board of directors focusing in its strategic role. In that sense, we measure this role through the following construct: the strategic involvement of the board of directors. It is expected that the positive relationships between family firm image, willingness to change, generation in control, generational involvement, the access to financial resources and the EO of the firm will be enhanced by a high strategic involvement of the Board of director.
