    The narrator of "Água Viva" (1973), by Clarice Lispector, is situated in a borderline position between authorship and literary criticism, that is to say, between the task of transposing her flow of thoughts into the novel and the will to act as a critic reader. If, on the one hand, the voice that controls the text is the first person narrator's, one also notices, on the other, the presence of a second voice that moves throughout the narrative and steps away from it in order to play the essayist role. This paper intends to investigate this border area in which lies the narrator of "Água Viva" and the notions of language, authorship and text resulting from it.

    A narradora do romance "Água Viva" (1973), de Clarice Lispector, situa-se numa posição fronteiriça entre a autoria e a crítica literária, ou melhor, entre a tarefa de transpor ao papel o fluxo de seus pensamentos e o desejo de atuar como intérprete do romance. Se, por um lado, a voz que domina o texto é a da narradora em primeira pessoa, podemos perceber, por outro, a presença de uma segunda voz que caminha paralelamente à narrativa e dela se afasta para desempenhar um papel de ensaísta. O presente artigo propõe-se a investigar essa zona limítrofe em que se situa a narradora de "Água Viva" e as concepções de linguagem, autoria e texto dela resultantes.
