  Rosvita von Gandersheim (siglo X) es considerada, con anterioridad a la magistra bingensis, la primera voz femenina en la literatura en tierras de habla germana. Durante su existencia la canonesa escribió textos épicos, leyendas y seis piezas teatrales, para ser representadas en el interior de los conventos, y quizá también ante un público externo. Su cultura clásica del teatro latino, y más específicamente de Terencio, le fue bastante útil en sus textos teatrales, en los cuales el conocimiento del comediógrafo iba unido a sus propósitos de evangelización. Dentro de los varios temas que podemos señalar en las piezas de Rosvita nos ha llamado la atención la presentación del concepto de martirio. Partiendo, pues, de una discusión acerca del significado eclesiástico del término, se llegará a una sucinta ejemplificación en los textos teatrales de la canonesa de Gandersheim, con la intención de demostrar con el lenguaje religioso apenas, pero principalmente con el registro lingüístico de sus textos, una incontestable herramienta para solidificar las virtudes cristianas en el mundo en que vivía.

  Roswhita von Gandersheim (tenth century) is considered, the magistra bingensis earlier, the first female voice in literature in Germanspeaking lands. During its existence, the canonisa wrote epic texts, legends and six theatrical plays, to be represented within the convents, and perhaps also an external audiences. Her classical theater latin culture, specifically of Terence, it was quite helpful in their theatrical texts, in which the artistic knowledge was united their purpose of evangelization. Among the various themes that we noted in Roswhita theatrical plays, calls our attention to the presentation of the concept of martyrdom. Leaving, therefore, a discussion about the ecllesiastical meaning of the word, will get a brief exemplification in Gandersheim theatrical texts, with the intention of showing only with religious language, but mainly with the linguistic record of their texts, an indisputable tool to solidify the Christian virtues in the world in which he lived.
